In mid-1921, George Stevens attended a Rotary Club meeting in Birmingham and was inspired to bring the idea to Wolverhampton. He gathered local leaders, including Chamber of Commerce figures, and held an initial meeting on September 13th. A follow-up on November 24th at Reynolds Restaurant, chaired by Mayor Alderman James Thompson, featured guidance from Birmingham Rotarian Gilbert Vyle and led to the first luncheon meeting on December 5th, 1921.

Though records are scarce, 18 founding members are known. The club officially launched with its Charter Meeting on January 24th, 1922.
